lyrics

I went to the doctor, he said I was fine
He showed me an X-ray, but it wasn’t mine
It looked like a monkey with a xylophone
And hundreds of starfish all over his bones

I knocked on your door but you weren’t at home
My shirt’s on your floor and my girlfriend’s in Rome
I met an old lady who sat very still
She said I look just like her dead husband Bill

I looked in the mirror but nothing was there
So I took it down and put up my stuffed bear
My grandfather shot him when he was fifteen
And now that I’ve got him I brush all his teeth

I dreamt I was swimming, got bit by a shark
He tore off my feet and he ripped them apart
Then I woke up screaming and holding my legs
But I was just dreaming, I guess that’s okay
